Amish

A lot of people have questions about the Amish, So let me tell you a bit of our story.

I grew up in a typical Amish home in Wayne County, Ohio. One of the largest Amish communities, I am the youngest of 5 kids,  we did not have electricity or drive cars, It was fine..., when you grow up that way you really don't miss what you are not used to.

We (Merle & I ) both went to public school, but only to 8th. grade, no Amish go to High School. If you grow up on a farm you help out at home or you go get jobs, neither of us grew up on farms so we both went out into the work force :)

We attended the Amish church with our parents as kids but neither one of us was ever baptized in the Amish church therefore we have never or will ever be shunned.
We have a  GREAT relationship with both of our parents and are not treated any different then any of our siblings.

I have 2 siblings are are amish and 2 that are not amish, Merle has 1 sibling that is amish and 1 that is not.

We started attending a Mennonite church and were married in 1993. I was working for my family's Construction Company and Merle owned his own business (A John Deere Dealership). With an 8th. grade education being a entrepreneur is your best option.

We lived in Wayne County until 2008 when we decided....after a lot of prayer and discerning to uproot the family, sell the business, sell the house and move to Florida, our kids were 12 & 8 at the time and we decided now is the time before they get into high school.
We bought a refinishing business here in Florida and absolutely LOVE it here.
